It is for social or religious reasons that they do not
Like cos some folk go - eewwwww, gross!
a very personal choice but it actually makes sex better with the "natural lubrication"! if the period is heavy then i wouldnt recommend it...

She can have sex. She should use a condom, because women are more susceptible to infections during their period, but there's no other reason not to have sex.
she CAN period sex have sex with of, actually. crowded if it be remove any out possible tampon uncomfortable.

besides religious or other reasons there is a other reason, if a couple who are witholding for a while,until after the period,they are more likely to have the hots for each other,and a women is at her most fertile moment,just after her period,so a bigger chance the get pregnant.
so go.. and overpopulate yourself.
